Where alcohol cannot go

Alcohol delivery is regulated state by state and, in some places, county by county. As a result there are addresses this store cannot serve even though a carrier reaches them. Checkout will reject an ineligible address before payment, and we would rather tell you here than after you have entered card details.

Address types we cannot serve

• Post office boxes and general delivery addresses.
• Parcel lockers, self-service pickup points and unattended delivery hubs.
• Freight forwarders, package consolidation services and export agents.
• Hotel mailrooms, university mailrooms and any address that cannot guarantee an in-person adult signature.
• Addresses outside the United States. This store does not ship internationally.

Known state-level restrictions

A number of states prohibit direct-to-consumer shipment of some or all alcohol, cap the volume an individual may receive, or require a permit that the operator must hold before shipping. Some states also treat wine and spirits differently from each other. Because these rules change, and because a permit may or may not be in place, we do not publish a static list of permitted states on this page. The authoritative answer is the checkout result for your specific address, and a written confirmation from us if you ask.

Local dry areas

Even inside a state that permits delivery, some municipalities and counties are dry or restrict alcohol sales. A carrier cannot deliver where local law prohibits it, and we cannot override that with a shipping instruction.

Volume and order limits

Where a jurisdiction limits how much alcohol one household may receive in a given period, we may split, reduce or decline an order to stay inside that limit. If a limit affects your order, we will tell you before charging and offer to adjust the basket.

Adult signature on every parcel

No parcel leaves this store without an adult-signature requirement, whatever the destination. There are no exceptions for workplace addresses, apartment buildings with front desks, or customers who have ordered before. Identification is checked by the carrier at the door, every time.
